Healing Power of Art Motivates August Featured Artist Rebecca Maynard

Aug 6, 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm

After she and her family survived a traumatic and deadly car crash 10 years ago, it took Rebecca Maynard two years to begin to find her preferred form of solace. Maynard is a mental health clinician. So, it came as a surprise to her that she made her healing discovery in an art studio. Ever since, Maynard has been on a journey to perfect her skills as a painter while absorbing what she calls “the healing power of art and creating.”

That journey leads in August to Maynard’s featured spot as Pittsford Fine Art’s artist of the month. The artist-run gallery, of which Maynard was a co-founder, will feature her latest work in multiple media, from watercolor and acrylic to oil and inks.

Also on exhibition is Portraits of the Frontline by Julia Maddalina, a collection of 100 portraits of frontline healthcare professionals.

The gallery is open on Fridays from noon to 8 pm; check the website (pittsfordfineart.com) for other hours. Parking is available in front of the gallery, at 4 North Main Street, or at the nearby public parking lot.
