Avatar Poetics and The White Road
Rochester Contemporary Art Center
137 East Ave.
Nov 1, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Avatar Poetics is a program of videos by artists who use animation, digitally mediated modes of performance, and computer-generated characters to explore themes of the virtual ‘self’ as it relates to queerness, cyberfeminism, fantasy world-building, and the erotics, horrors and absurdities of the digital body adrift across the contemporary media/social landscape. Avatar Poetics was curated by Sean Capone and will be screened on Wed., Fri., & Sun. The White Road features new porcelain vessels and sculptures by multifaceted artist, designer, and sculptor Christina Brinkman. Of this new work Christina has said: “I think this work tries to be sympathetic with the natural world. It is usually white. White reflects simplicity, purity, nakedness, lightness, death, calm, or stillness. It is also spare… Without the distraction of color, one considers the outline, the interior and exterior space, the proportions and relationships of the form.”
