Opening Reception. Suffrage Exhibition
Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County
115 South Avenue
Jun 2, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for the opening reception of an exhibition exploring Rochester’s role in the woman suffrage and women’s rights movements of the 19th and early 20th centuries! 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote in New York State, and Rochester-area women (and men!) played an important role in this historic victory. Celebrate First Friday among an eclectic mix of historical artifacts from throughout our community, including a dress that belonged to Susan B. Anthony, the prototype for the original salon shampoo chair designed by Martha Matilda Harper, an old-fashioned bicycle from the 19th century, a Bloomer costume, a variety of suffrage banners, pendants, and flyers, and so much more!
This event is free and open to the public. Light fare and cash bar available. We hope to see you there!
