Gallery Q
100 College Ave., #100
Oct 4, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Artists Philip Lange and Gerry Szymanski will be exhibiting photographs that capture the concrete (reflections in windows, in Lange’s work, and clouds and people in Szymanski’s) from an abstract perspective. Both will give a short talk and answer questions about their work. Lange has been taking photographs since he was a teenager in Phoenix, AZ. He received a BA from Carleton College in 1978, then came to Rochester to study at the Visual Studies Workshop. He received an MFA in 1983 and taught in Rochester City Schools for 30 years. Szymanski is a commercial and fine art photographer who specializes in portraits. He is well-known in Rochester musical and visual arts circles. He teaches photography at the Flower City Arts Center. Trained in music and library science, Szymanski is an adjunct professor in the Eastman School of Music’s Department of Musicology, and manages the 100,000 item collection of sound recordings at the Sibley Music Library.
