Z Axis by Rebecca Aloisio

Frontispace is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by Rebecca Aloisio. Aloisio’s practice is influenced by the glut of visual information that we are inundated with on a daily basis. We are continuously confronted with constructions of truth in the form of images, especially through social media. These politics of vision silently shape our history and actions while blurring the line between fact and invention. Navigating this paradigm is at the core of Aloisio’s practice. Her work negotiates between the flat and the spatial and incorporates a variety of media ranging from drawing, collage, painting and printing. She re‐makes or repurposes representational or objective information in an effort to make an original “thing,” neither exclusively truth or invention. The pieces are illusions, familiar, physical, yet intangible. The final works are not only abstractions, but are a challenge to the viewer to think critically and question the authenticity of the images. rebeccaaloisio.com.
