SUMMARY:All of Us II
DESCRIPTION:Curated by local artist and RIT alum Unique Fair\, this group exhibition features a select group of emerging artists with roots in the city of Rochester\, NY\, and is inspired by the historical efforts of artists like Luvon Sheppard\, whose Allofus Workshop became a center for creative collaboration in Rochester during the 1970s.\n\nFor the second addition of the All of Us exhibition\, Fair has brought together six emerging women artists whose work explores confrontations with idealized\, constructed and multiple selves: Jillian Hagadorn\, Haley Indorato\, Erin Nesmith\, Lily Rice\, Damali Underwood\, and Brittany Williams.

SUMMARY:Art\, for Goodness Sake!
DESCRIPTION:Visit Aldaskeller Wine Co. for work by Minnesotan artist\, Susan Keskinen!\n\nFrom the artist: "In the spring of 2023\, I created my first paper weavings. They were very simple\, with a focus more on the combination of colors than intricate weaving or cutting. Over time\, my paper weaving became more complicated and creative. The medium was a good fit for me. I like disciplines that require planning and precision. Paper weaving takes those two characteristics and adds expressionism with the colors and types of paper and with the different shapes and types of cuts.\n\n‘Art\, for Goodness Sake’ is a way for me and you to give back to the communities we live in. I do art because it’s creative\; it uses a different part of my brain\; and it’s fun! When you purchase one of my pieces of art\, you get to choose from a curated list of local non-profits that benefit from the purchase price\, by making your check out to them or going to their website and donating."\n\nComplimentary wine tasting from 5-7pm

SUMMARY:"Not For Sale" a Members Exhibit at the New Fischer Gallery
DESCRIPTION:“Not For Sale” is something special to celebrate the opening of The Fischer Gallery at The Yards and our 15th year serving the arts community of Greater Rochester. This inaugural exhibition has invited artists to share their favorite pieces—works they have chosen to keep for themselves (or perhaps pieces they might be willing to part with for the right price). The exhibit offers a glimpse into the personal side of the artists’ practices and the stories behind the work they choose to hold onto.\n\n“Not For Sale” is the first exhibit in this new art space. The addition of The Fischer Gallery isn’t just about adding another room to The Yards facilities—it’s about creating more opportunities for our community. Co-Directors Jim Fischer and Kristina Kaiser\, will be creating a gallery and flexible workspace focused on beautiful 2D exhibitions\, photography\, workshops\, and small gatherings.\n\nJoin us on First Friday\, November 6th\, from 6–9 pm\, for this special opening and to celebrate the anniversary of The Yard’s 15th year in operation. The Fischer Gallery at the Yards is located at 50–52 Public Market Way\, Rochester.

SUMMARY:Seen by Susan Jenkins
DESCRIPTION:Seen—\nSusan Jenkins' work reflects more than three decades as an accomplished arts educator and visual artist. Jenkins has held residencies\, appeared in publications\, and exhibited her work in respected galleries and arts organizations across the United States. Jenkins holds a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Nazareth University\, where she studied painting under Kathleen Calderwood\, and a master’s degree in art education from the Art of Education University\, where she was recognized for excellence in painting. Jenkins lives and works from her home studio in Rochester\, New York\, and Bonita Springs\, Florida\, where her work is also on display at the COCO Art Galleries.\n\nSusan Jenkins’ artwork draws on what she has seen and experienced. For decades\, she has explored how natural light and visual movement influence perception\, mood\, and form—translating their impact into richly textured\, expressive\, sometimes sculptural and carved compositions. Her work continues to explore the intersections between natural and constructed environments—where structure meets spontaneity\, and observation meets imagination. See Jenkins’ work on her website at www.susanjenkinsgallery.com.\n\n“This collection of work\, entitled ‘Seen’\, focuses on a broad collection of paintings created through observation\; from nature to infrastructure\, seeing is everything for my art. It allows me to capture the geometric lines and textures of a building or bridge\, the organic flow of sunlight on a natural surface\, or the colors that appear on the same object at different times. Seeing allows me to capture fleeting moments forever.”\n\nAn opening reception will be held this First Friday with the artist in attendance. The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours.\n\nImage: A detail shot of “Fall Flowers” by Susan Jenkins

SUMMARY:Belong by Gianna Stewart
DESCRIPTION:This First Friday is your last chance to see RoCo's public art installation\, BELONG by Gianna Stewart.\n\nIn spring of 2025 several organizations including the New York Times documented the rapid redaction of certain words and terms from official government websites. Since then\, groups such as PEN America have have attempted to track this erasure by compiling lists of words removed from government publications and censored by institutions attempting to comply with the administration’s directives. Simultaneously arts and educational organizations have been encouraged to remove many of these words from their grant applications and programs\, and many have complied.\n\nThis tryptic carefully incorporates PEN America’s list into the letters BELONG\, which is also one of the words on the list. Here the words are presented openly\, in public space\, and in direct opposition to the attempts to scrub them from public discourse.\n\nBELONG is on view alongside Sanctuary: Borders & Belonging in 2026\, on view inside RoCo.You can also buy a t-shirt version of Gianna's public artwork - drop in from 6-9pm. \n\nLearn more about the artist and this project here.
