Eric Bellmann is one of Rochester’s most accomplished artists and educators. A Rochester native, he graduated from the Rochester Institute in Technology with an MFA in Printmaking and he later became a tenured professor at the school. His work has been widely collected, published, and exhibited. He has work in over fifty public collections including the Leslie Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, Charleston Art Gallery, and the Memorial Art Gallery. He is often featured in publications such as The Advocate and The James White Review. In addition, Bellmann has won over forty prizes for his work — he is a two-time prize winner in the Finger Lakes Annual. His first solo exhibition in twenty years, the show will include his rarely exhibited male nudes. His elegant and frank style often features nudes, classically or casually posed, directly confronting the viewer and creating at atmosphere of comfortable intimacy. Bellmann works in a variety of medium including drawing, watercolor, and mixed media. An active member of the Rochester community as well as the Out Alliance, Bellmann says, “I am excited to share with my community, my work.”
