Open Studio and Try Encaustic Monotyping
Studio 305 on Elton St.
34 Elton St.
Jun 5, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
With four painters in Studio 305 — Anne McCune, Phyllis Bryce Ely, Patrice McPeak and Maureen Church — you’ll be surprised by the quantity and diversity of artwork to see in this Neighborhood of the Arts location. Discover original art depicting local scenes and images from more distant places, cards, prints, and more, and there are always works in progress to discuss with the artists.
This month’s hands-on opportunity for our visitors is to make an encaustic wax monotype for your Dad, grad, or take it home for yourself! Encaustic wax is pigmented beeswax that is heated to a molten temperature for fluid painting. A monotype is a one-of-a-kind pulled print, no two are alike! Studio 305 will provide complimentary materials and hands-on guidance. Learn more about encaustic art from long-time encaustic artists.
