Jim Mott: B-sides, outtakes & love songs, a selective retrospective
Colleen Buzzard Studio
Anderson Arts Building, 250 N Goodman St., #401
Sep 4, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Through initiatives like the nationally-recognized Itinerant Artist Project (exchanging art for hospitality across the US) and Landscape Lottery, Jim Mott combines an intimate approach to landscape painting with structured programs of social engagement to explore place, community, and belonging, both locally and across America. But not all the time.
While this exhibit will include a generous sampling of artwork from his outreach projects, it also widens the scope to share a range of interests and explorations – from early etchings, industrial scenes and images of suburbia, to experiments in abstraction (including a board game that doubles as interactive art), nature studies, whimsical drawings, an ongoing series of nocturnes, and recent work done in response to the current social and political chaos.
This exhibition continues through October 30.
