Celebrate the kickoff for Writers & Books newest program: One City One Prompt with this year’s writing prompt, “Where I’m From.” Write a story, a poem, or a short essay exploring your own personal history of where you came from. This is not limited to geography—think family, think food, think traditions, catch phrases, and more. Let’s get Rochester to share, what made us who we are, “Where I’m From.”

Also, from 6:00-7:00 p.m., self-publishing consultant and editor Nina Alvarez will offer a free discussion on the process of self-publishing. Learn about Amazon’s print-on-demand and ebook platforms, how to know if you’re ready to publish, how to plan for your book cover, marketing and promotion, and how to use an underestimated skill, intuition, to navigate the tricky terrain of making books that people read.
