Shapely, an installation of recent paintings and prints by Alan Singer, celebrates a sublime blend of art and geometry. The imagery in Alan Singer’s new art crosses boundaries between science, visual art and mathematics. Design and color are guiding principles as he experiments with primary colors and shapes, creating dynamic forms on paper and canvas. Alan uses digital tools and dramatic colors to explore a new realm of experience in his paintings and a series of monotypes for which he writes his own code. Alan Singer is a painter, printmaker, and Professor for over 30 years teaching in The School of Art at Rochester Institute of Technology. Alan has exhibited his artwork across the country in galleries and museums such as The Smithsonian, The Everson, and The Memorial Art Gallery.
He is a published author of several books as well as a regular blog called The Visual Artworker. Featured here: Great Lakes, acrylic gouache on Gessoboard, 2017, 18″ x 24″
