Join Nu Movement for the closing reception of AJ Dungan’s solo exhibition. According to Dungan, “My painting style is singular. My work is distinctive. I naturally find the figure fascinating and abstract portraiture more so. Drawing on my classic academic training and my love for Color Field painting and Abstract Impressionism, my paintings share a unique quality of contemporary graphic design and traditional art. Using a geometric masking process with an organic pouring method and conventional brushwork, I merge the figure into abstraction. I use the canvas as a sketchbook. I layer and over-paint the image until the composition emerges, defining itself and the raw and often unexpected energy it emanates.”
