Considering Spaces
Community Design Center of Rochester
1115 East Main Street
Oct 3, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A fall offering from the Community Design Center opening in our Design Gallery Friday, October 3, is an exhibit that celebrates the spaces we observe, inhabit and create.  Featured in the show are a photographic journey through a unique collection of interior spaces and 4 Projects, community visions for projects in progress slated for Rochester city neighborhoods. Come and experience a journey through captivating black and white photographs of interior landscapes in a series titled “Solace” by artist Jonathan Merritt, who shares his unique perspective “finding consolation in the stillness of an undecided world”.  In contrast, 4 Projects takes us to community spaces we are familiar with, requiring us to consider their transformation, featuring options for proposals funded by grants from our Development/Design Program to adaptively reuse early 20th century buildings and facades as well as vacant lots. These projects highlight community history and celebrate Rochester’s built environment. Local non-profit organizations and the consultants that they selected collaborated to develop conceptual designs that they hope will be implemented in their neighborhoods.
