Rosemary Pergolizzi has lived in Irondequoit for almost her entire life. She taught in Irondequoit as an Art Educator for 26 years. Upon retirement Rosemary became a full-time artist and shares studio space with the Main Street Artist Group at the Fedder Building downtown. With an abundance of natural beauty around her Rosemary is always mesmerized by the variety of form, color and movement of clouds and water, and the physical forces that shape our environment. Her favorite subjects and locations are seashores that open to the sky from Local sandy beaches and rocky coasts on the Great Lakes and the Atlantic to exotic Mediterranean ports of call.
Rosemary’s mediums of choice are oils and pastels. Oils provide her with endless opportunities to mix colors and create textures that imitate natural elements. Pastels are rich with pigment that can be applied in subtle layers or with the precision of a drawing tool. Both allow her to achieve realistic results for painterly self-expression and experimentation. Drawing and sketching in pencil or charcoal is always Rosemary’s preferred starting point for thinking and planning.
Rosemary is currently a member of the Rochester Art Club, the Pastel Society of Western NY and the Mill Gallery in Honeoye Falls. She is invited by local art clubs to demonstrate her expertise in oil and pastel. She is currently researching venues for teaching art to both adults and young people. Meet Rosemary at Pittsford Fine Art on First Friday and see more of her work here.
