Abundance Food Co-op presents work by Nataliia Vdovichenko this First Friday.

“My story begins in Kharkiv, Ukraine. This is where I grew up, received my education and began working as a biologist at a research institute. When the war began, I was forced to move to Europe, where, in addition to work, I found joy in creativity. My work is done in Petrykivka painting technique. The first drawings in this style appeared in Ukraine as early as the 17th century. This technique requires patience; it does not like haste. For each stroke to turn out successfully, the brush must be held confidently. All movements should be done smoothly. Peace of mind and balance are important, so the process of drawing is often compared to meditation. This art became part of my life, now I can share it with you here, in the US.” -Nataliia Vdovichenko
