ProCreative: An International Art Exhibition

Welcome to FCLNY’s PROCREATIVE Art Exhibition!
ProCreative is an innovative, international art exhibit with a unique mission. By showcasing artwork from a wide variety of feminist artists, this exhibit inspires women to embrace, and not shy away from, the vulnerability that oftens surrounds the feminine nature. With the ability to procreate, not just another human life, but great works of art, woman is put on full display at ProCreative.
Themes and topics include:
Symbiosis, interdependence (rather than independence), interconnectedness (versus autonomy), nexus and convergence (of life forms, of mother and child, of energies), pregnancy and gestation of a child/ and or ideas/creative pursuits, strength in motherhood, abortion as destructive of procreativity and procreativity within the framework of a consistent life ethic.
The exhibition showcases a wide variety of work by several artists, including but not limited to graphic design, painting, sketches, filmmaking, sculpting, and textiles, one of which includes a handmade quilt crafted by survivors of sex trafficking represented by Brightstar Community of Rochester.
FCLNY warmly invites the public to view the exhibition, curated by Feminist Scholar, Alisia Chase, Ph.D., SUNY Brockport, Professor of Art History. ProCreative continues through December 14th. No cost for entry required. Closed for Thanksgiving, 11/27-11/28. Visit www.fclny.org for more information.
