RIT Alumni Spotlight
RIT City Art Space
30 Adventure Pl.
Oct 2, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Gallery r presents a solo exhibition of sculpture and installation by RIT alumni and Dedalus Foundation Fellowship recipient Cecily Culver, whose work aims to shift viewer perspective and celebrate the mundane phenomena of the everyday:

“Fascinated by mundane objects and creatures, Culver romantically strives for a nonhuman perspective, marveling at what it might be like to experience the world from a thing’s standpoint. Some of her sculptural works recreate the undercurrents of daily activity: a life frequently closer to the ground. In transporting quotidian moments into the gallery space—like recreating the antennae of two roaches’ graceful exploration of the atmosphere above the drainpipe they inhabit—she hopes to transform the viewer’s everyday experiences.”  The Dedalus Foundation, Inc.

The RIT Alumni Spotlight is a new exhibition series that presents recent projects or current work in progress from select RIT alumni who continue to practice in the field of contemporary art.
