Seen—
Susan Jenkins’ work reflects more than three decades as an accomplished arts educator and visual artist. Jenkins has held residencies, appeared in publications, and exhibited her work in respected galleries and arts organizations across the United States. Jenkins holds a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Nazareth University, where she studied painting under Kathleen Calderwood, and a master’s degree in art education from the Art of Education University, where she was recognized for excellence in painting. Jenkins lives and works from her home studio in Rochester, New York, and Bonita Springs, Florida, where her work is also on display at the COCO Art Galleries.

Susan Jenkins’ artwork draws on what she has seen and experienced. For decades, she has explored how natural light and visual movement influence perception, mood, and form—translating their impact into richly textured, expressive, sometimes sculptural and carved compositions. Her work continues to explore the intersections between natural and constructed environments—where structure meets spontaneity, and observation meets imagination. “This collection of work, entitled ‘Seen’, focuses on a broad collection of paintings created through observation; from nature to infrastructure, seeing is everything for my art. It allows me to capture the geometric lines and textures of a building or bridge, the organic flow of sunlight on a natural surface, or the colors that appear on the same object at different times. Seeing allows me to capture fleeting moments forever.”

An opening reception will be held this First Friday with the artist in attendance. The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours.
