From the artist: “Hello! I’m ame / zaq (they/them) I’m a genderqueer East-Asian Canadian artist. My curiosity for life has led me to many different avenues in life including studies in STEM, working in healthcare, and even product design. My artistic journey is largely self-driven and my motivation has always been to use art as means of connection, communication, inspiration, and expression. I also deeply believe that art and creativity is resistance. I enjoy sharing art in hopes of inspiring people to approach it with a free spirit and find their own joy in expressing themselves, unhindered from pressure.

The Moon is a series of watercolour paintings based off of the Chinese Zodiac. The Zodiac cycle is composed of twelve animals with a combination of Five Elements which totals to a cycle of 60 years. These are some of the combination that are upcoming.

The Flowers is a series of sketches I’ve made at Ugly Duck. Having a weekly cup of coffee has become an important ritual for me. Setting time to have a moment to myself and my notebook is deeply regenerative. I love sketching the weekly flower arrangements. It keeps me coming back.

I hope the contrast of these works can inspire you to pick up a pen and put it to paper.

Thank you for viewing my works. Parts of the proceeds from sales will be donated to PCRF and going back to our lovely friends at UDC.”
