Jared Buschang (b. 1990) is a painter and photographer living and working in Cartagena, Colombia. Buschang adds to the long history of painting by consistently questioning and transforming its major components. Within his works you can see deconstructed figures and other dream-like scenarios come to life.
Buschang studied photography at the International Center for Photography and St. John’s University before switching his focus to painting in 2012. In 2013 he was given a studio in the house of esteemed painter Eduardo Arranz-Bravo in Barcelona where he began to hone his skills and learn how to live as a painter. Subsequently, Buschang has had solo exhibitions in Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Mexico City, New York City, Cartagena, Colombia and Chicago. He just finished up an artists in residence at La Fourchette de Roze in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and his next exhibition will be a return home to Rochester where he will be presenting a large body of work called ‘The Spaghetti Ghost.’
